Reflection

Throughout this class, the occupation of being a buyer has been made clear. First and foremost a buyer must be a leader. It is important for them to make smart financial decisions while also finding a way to be creative. Buyers perform busy jobs of multitasking and being on the go during a day or work. In this field of work, it is needed for buyers to be organized. Buyers also have to value relationships as they communicate with vendors daily to make sales and meet their quota. They can do this by being consistent, friendly, and excited about what they are trying to sell to someone. As buyers perform their job it needs to be well done. They are helping to meet consumers' needs in a strategic and creative way.

TREND WATCHINGREPORT

Reflection

I found this Trend Watching Report interesting.  As we were observing other people and making psychological conclusion based on other’s clothes says a lot about what others do as an occupation, where they go to school, their hobbies, their age, and influences of the time and even the colors people enjoy wearing. In the conclusions I made, I found much of the younger people were dressing to be on the go or were students who wearing Georgia Southern school clothing. As for people who were not students in college, I noticed many people wearing long sleeves to either keep them warm or they were embracing the summer season changing to Autumn. Along with the change to Autumn, I saw a few cream-colored shirts and jackets, too. This report revealed the change the Fashion Industry takes season by season.

Reflection

Pantone is a company that is known for forecasting colors for each year, and the color of the year was a Blue/Violet color called VeriPeri. I found out that Pantone color forecasts apply to everything from apparel and home décor to the color of cars. Along with color forecasting, I was able to take the Pantone Personality quiz was able to see the color that was chosen for myself. Although personally I did not think Tardis Blue 2955 C fit who I am, many people always say that Blue is a color my personality matches up with because I am mild mannered and calm. The Tardis Blue is darker it felt more mysterious.

Retail
Math Examples

Reflection

The retail math problems allowed me to practice and experience retail math problems as if I were working in a store or shop. Word problems require critical thinking and helped me learn and understand how to calculate markup percentages and cumulative markup percentages. Along with calculating markup percentages from chapter 2, I also learned how to calculate profit, sales, cost of goods sold, operating expenses, gross margin, and profit and loss. This will help sell merchandise and help to run a business.

Reflection

The Chapter 14 retail math problems allowed me to practice and experience retail math problems as if I were working in a store or shop. Retail math problems require critical thinking and other ways of thinking. These problems helped me learn and understand how to calculate markup percentages and how to price merchandise. The problems require formulas to get the correct solution. I will remember and take the formulas with me to my job. Along with that, I will take the knowledge I learned and apply it to my work to help sell merchandise and run a business.

ASSORTMENT PLAN

The brand Converse has many types of sneakers. They have low-top, high-top, mid-top, slip-on, and platform sneakers. The sneaker company also designs a line of boots. Their shoes also come in various materials and fabrics such as Canvas, Suede, Leather, Cotton Stretch, and Gore-Tex material. As well as colors such as Red, Pink, Black, Green, navy, etc. The stores' Rack Room Shoes and Walmart carry converse, but there are many differences in what the stores offer regarding size, material, style, and color. For instance, Walmart has a limited supply of styles, colors, and materials. The store offers low-top, high-top, and platform sneakers since Walmart are not just a shoe store, so they only carry a select few for their customers. In contrast, Rack Room offers a wide selection of styles, colors, and materials since they are known for being a shoe store for customers. The two stores offer a similar range of sizes. Women’s shoe sizes range from 4.5-20, Men’s shoe range from sizes 2.5-18, and Children’s shoes are offered anywhere from 1C – 6Y.
